A Chapter 7 Bankruptcy case is a case in which the debtor dedicates all of the assets to a trustee. The trustee is charged with the responsibility of liquidating all of the non exempt assets for distribution to all of the creditors who file claims. A Chapter 7 case is very different from a chapter 13 case in which the debtor makes payments to the trustee.
Creditors are able to contest Chapter 7 cases by filing adversary proceedings. These types of proceedings are given a separate case number by the bnakurptcy court.
